Good Times...

Life is going so great right now! Only 3 months, 2 weeks and 2 days until our big day. I can’t wait! All of our planning is finally coming to an end and its wonderful now to just sit back and wait for May 16th to arrive. We are all set to take our engagement pictures on March 2nd and praying for good weather. We have some really neat ideas up our sleeves for this and can’t wait to share them with everyone. My dress is supposed to be here the first part of April so that I can take my bridals at the end of April. I can’t wait to see what my dress is going to look like. Sorry I can’t give any details, a certain someone can’t know anything.

Sebastian and I started our apartment search a few weeks back to find that perfect home as husband and wife to start our new lives in once we return home from our honeymoon. I think we found the perfect one, the amenities are endless so even when were sad to come back this place will be like living in a resort 24/7. I’m super excited about them!

My small group recently started reading a book called “The Shack”. And I must say it’s probably one of the best books I’ve ever read. This book will not only inspire you but also let you see God in a way that you never thought imaginable. I’m not finished with the entire book but from what I’ve read I’ve already been touched in so many ways. I’ve always asked God the same ole question time and time again, “Why? Why me ?” This book has answered this question for me in its entirety so that I would never have to doubt his word again. I would love to explain more but I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone that’s interested in reading it. Highly recommended!!

On our recent snow (ice) day I was compelled to bake. So I tried this new recipe that I got from another blog, its chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate chip cookie in the middle. I must say they were AMAZING! All you do is get a box of chocolate cake mix and pour it into cupcake liners, then get a ball of cookie dough and stick it right in the middle. Bake for 8-10 minutes and voila, you have these amazing chocolate decadent creations. Oh yea and then you ice them with a whipped chocolate icing. YUMMY!

All in all life is going amazing. We are very blessed to have amazing friends and family by our side during this special time in our lives. God is truly working in my life everyday, it’s amazing to see what kind of transformations happen in me when I just let go and allow him to take the reigns. Sebastian is my rock and I couldn’t be more proud of him. His walk with Christ amazes and inspires me everyday to be better for him and myself.

Something to think about: Have you closed yourself off to God in some area of your life? Take the step to trust God, even if you do not fully understand his way. Allow no limitations on what God can do in your life!

It's Cold & Icy Outside Today

According to News 8 in HD, it's cold outside right now and people are dumb for driving on the icy roads. There have been multiple wrecks on our freeway systems because people drive like maniacs. Gregg Fields is showing us a map of Texas with blue, purple and green rain in our area. Apparently there will be a High pressure system coming through that will warm our temperatures from a chilly 21 degrees to a still chilly 39 degrees. Weathermen are dumb. They never get things right. At least it looks like the weekend will be warmer.

I wonder if you can make shaved ice from the ice on our windshields? Would that taste good?

Just A Thought

Much like Moses did, I usually find myself feeling inadequate to fulfill God's plans. I ask him, "really?", me? It is, however great to know that even though we feel this way, God still pursues us and uses us if we are willing. I've gotten to the point where I know that I don't have to be (in the know) with the why's and the how's. I have learned to just whole heartedly go with what God speaks into our lives because in the end that is what's best.

Although God pursues us, being with him or walking with him is our choice. How we do that though, is such an amazing personal journey. Be intent with God and he will transform your life. You will never feel lost in the maze that is life. God has already given us the answer, it is up to us to seek it.

Better late than never...

I know, I know these pics are from the holidays but I thought I would still share.

This is on X-mas Eve at my Uncle and Aunt's home, it was pajama themed. We had a blast!

This is Cylas with me and Lesley at my niece's birthday party at a place called "Going Bonkers". I didn't know what to expect at this place. I thought it would be the normal kind of kid's birthday place, loud noise and screaming kids. But this place was so big the noise level was great. I definitely prefer over the classic Chuckee Cheese.

Major is getting so big, I can't imagine how he's going to look when he's at his full size. The only problem with him is that he loves cat food. We have five cats at my mom's house so he tries so hard to fit in with them. I don't think he has any idea that he is a dog.

Here is Buddy our Turkish Van, I call him a mama's boy because he follows me around everywhere. Sebastian gets so annoyed with me because I treat him like a child. I can't help it he's just so dang cute. In this picutre is Buddy's brand new friend. When we were cleaning out my mom's garage a few weeks back we found a stuffed cat that I had received as a gift when I was younger. It looks identical to Buddy, from the first moment we introduced Buddy to this stuffed animal they have been inseperable. He sleeps with it and drags it around everywhere with him. I'm actually getting a little jealous of Buddy's new buddy.

What's Going On

Well let's get it started in here!! Or something. It's been a busy week or so here lately. We have been finalizing, and by that I mean mainly Kristen(Go babe, go babe!!), our wedding plans since it is only like 4 months out. I did contribute greatly into the tasting of our menu though. I must say I like those appointments!

Coming up for me next week is our Men's Conference at Church. It should be really great because the entire conference is centered around being the spiritual leader of your family/relationship. I will be honest, this has been a tough challenge for me to totally comprehend and take in. This type of responsibility ranks all the way at the top. At first I could not grasp the magnitude of it. Being a new believer and walking by faith has tested my character and thoughts from day one. This, however, is not only a test, it will be the legacy that gets passed on to our family like it was passed on to us by God.

I am eager to learn as much as I can from this conference and to get insight on how other men go about being the spiritual leader in their family. I want to be able, God willing, to be a strong spiritual leader for my future wife and our future children. I will fill you in on what I learned after it's done.

For now we will continue to finalize plans and try not to get overwhelmed. Later for now and I leave you with these words:

With every step, be constantly aware of your need for God, he’s inviting you to a face-to-face meeting where he can transform your heart and prove his grace to you. (PKE)

Some Thoughts

Well, mark it down, on January 5, 2009 THE Texas Longhorns beat fighting tressels in the Fiesta Bowl. It was a disappointing win for Texas, I know, a win is a win, but they really could have taken it to the ohioans but they let their foot off the gas and made some mental mistakes. But the game was not what impressed me, it was after the game that I got really taken back.

The two offensive stars for Texas, Colt McCoy and Quan Cosby are true representation of great people. Usually when an athlete gets interviewed after a game, their first words are usually about the team or the game or what not. All season, McCoy, and now Cosby, give praise to God before all!! That is just refreshing to see from young men in their position. To acknowledge God before even thinking of whatever question is asked shows where their priorities are. It is good to see that all is not lost in the world of sports and that young men can be role models for something other than winning a football game.

Mathew 5:16 says, "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” The idea is to put the grace of God in your life on display for others to see. This is what these two young men did and I admire that. May I humble myself each day and praise God before all.
