Week In Review, Sort Of

Things that are coming up that we may be doing:

1. Our church is having their version of the Amazing Race and is putting small groups vs small groups in their competition. This is Friday evening from 6:30 - 9:30 and it will consist of challenges in and around Flower Mound.

2. Also this Friday there will be an awesome concert at the American Airlines Center. The Rock and Worship show is coming to town with acts like Addison Road, Tenth Avenue North, Hawk Nelson, Jeremy Camp and Mercy Me. It is $10 per ticket at the door only and doors open @ 6:30 with the concert starting @ 7:30.

Been working out latetly and I realized why I had stopped doing it the last time. Because you get sore and your body aches!! But somehow this time I will find a way to work through that, I think. The wedding is almost here as you can tell by the countdown at the bottom of our blog. Kristen went to her first bridal shower this past weekend and got to see family that she hadn't seen in a while and had a chance to catch up. We are both very grateful for everyone who came and are extremely grateful for all of your gifts!! We will definitely put them to use!

This is what's going on this week. Alot of people do the whole Tweeter thing but I think that would take too much time to get used to so we will continue to blog instead. Later for now.

I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8)

Honeymoon Finalized!

So after much deliberation and consideration and contemplation Kristen and I have finally booked our Honeymoon!! I won't tell you where we are going but we will show you a picture of what it will look like:

We both can not wait to get there and relax on the beach!! I wish we could go tomorrow!! The wedding is right around the corner and we are so excited and can't wait! RSVP cards are starting to come in the mail and we are starting to get a count on how many people will be witness to our union under God. We are so excited to share our day with everyone!!

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as God forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. ( Colossians 3:12-15) The Message

These are powerful words and ones that every marriage should learn to live by. May God bless our union and guide us, through our marriage, to be an example of Jesus Christ's love, kindness, humility and compassion to our family and friends.

Rain, The Meaning?

So this is what it looks like outside right now here in DFW. Sunny and bright huh? Not really, for once the weather man got it right. He predicted rain, and we got rain. Rainy weather always makes me want to stay home asleep instead of waking up and going to work. So for all of you that are at home relaxing today, know that I am jealous.

In honor of the Rain I googled to see how many songs about Rain there were and there was a lot of them. Of course there are the popular ones: Singing in the Rain, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, November Rain, Purple Rain, and the infamous, Blame it on the Rain, (for you Milli Vanilli fans). One of my favorites is Have You Ever Seen The Rain by Creedence. It's one of my favorites because it's not really about rain at all. It's about knowing that troubled times are ahead, (the calm before the storm), but through it all it will rain a sunny day, (perseverance).
  • How often, knowing that troubled times are ahead of us do we know in our hearts that everything will be ok.?
  • He covers the sky with clouds, he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills (Psalm 147:8 )

No matter what we are going through, trust in God and He will supply you with peace and understanding and allow you to grow in your faith through Him. Bring the rain to make us stronger and to shape our lives to follow you Lord!!

Viva Las Vegas

Well only 4 more days and I’m off to Las Vegas! My sister planned a surprise trip for me, her and my best friend Lesley. We are staying at Treasure Island, which is right smack in the heart of the strip. Lesley has never been to Vegas so just seeing her face alone when we drive up to the strip will be worth the whole trip. Planning our wedding has been very stressful so I hope this getaway will help me unwind and relax. We have massages planned on Sunday morning at Wet Spa at Treasure Island. This will be one of the highlights of the trip, I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted and needed a massage. We also hope to catch a show on one of the evenings I really want to see one of the Cirque du Soleil shows. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is flying. I absolutely despise flying I would rather a road-trip any day. I don’t know I think it’s the whole idea of being in the air with just metal around me that scares me. Did I mention it’s also going to be Friday the 13th when I fly out. So please keep me in your prayers for a safe flight out and back home. I will definitely post many pictures when I get back so stay tuned!!!

God-Centered, Not Self-Centered

We live in a selfish world, a self-centered world, and it's sad to see it on a daily basis. Instead of one person helping another, they stop and think, "What will I get out of it?" That is the most ridiculous way of living life ever!

Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. ( 1 Corinthians 10:24)

This world would be so much better if everyone set out to do good for others instead of themselves. Think about it: if everyone in the world did good for others, it would mean that someone would do good to you, and you would do good deeds for others. It would be a never ending cycle of people caring for people.

It's sad and it hurts when selfish behavior is displayed by family, friends or loved ones. All we can do is continue to love them and encourage them and be an example of God Centered Life. Although it's against our human nature to go against the grain, give a helping hand to others and don't expect a reward. Your reward, your eternal peace is waiting for you in heaven at the side of God.

There's an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth (Ecclesiastes 3:1 Message)

I was thinking about when our time is up on the earth and how it's at that time that people feel the need to spend time with family and loved ones. My question is this: Why wait until your time is up to spend time with your family and loved ones?

The opportune time to be with family and loved ones is today, yesterday, tomorrow, every day. That is the right time to do so. Don't wait and waste your time and miss out on the gifts that God gives you. Cherish the time you have with those you love and make it known to them how important they are to you.

1 Corinthians says that God is faithful and will not let you be tempted (distracted) beyond your ability, but with that temptation (distraction) he will also provide a way of escape that you will be able to endure it.

Don't let things of the world distract you and take your attention away from God and his gifts(family). Focus on what's important in life and leave all of the bragging and self centered lifestyles behind. Present yourself at the cross, let God humble you each and everyday and praise God in good times, ok times, and bad times for this is how we know that we are spiritually mature.

Well, it's March now, which means that spring is just around the corner. It must be hiding though because mornings are still cold. A little over two months until our wedding and preperations are just about done with. Kristen has done such an amazing job with the planning of our wedding and making sure that everything goes right. Both of us can't wait to see how all of her hard work turns out. I personally know that it will be awesome!!

We are going to be putting invitations together this weekend and we will need to get some sort of system down. All I know is that there is a tape gun thing that looks pretty cool so I'm going to call shotgun on that one. I hope that we are able to get them all done so we can start to send them out soon.

We met with our pre marital counseling couple a few weeks back and as we were talking with them and we were telling them about us and our story a few things stuck with me. We talked to them about how we both make better choices now that we are both in our walks with God and that is so true. I know personally I have made strides in a lot of different aspects of my life. One of them being music that I listen to.

For a long time I would just listen to anything just for the sake of listening to anything. For the past year and a half though, I have been paying more attention to what the lyrics of the song are and what their meaning is. This is one thing that I have come to love about Christian Music. No matter if it's rock, alternative, worship or hip/hop music that I listen to now, it has a meaning to it. Many of the songs on my Ipod mean something to me or speak of situations in life that I am either in, or have been in. It's just amazing how now I am aware of this and I wasn't before.

Choices made affect your life in one way or another. Make the right choice and things are smooth. Make the wrong choice and speed bumps ahead. I've had a lot of speed bumps in my life and it is nice to know that aside from trials that God will present me with in my life, it will be a smooth ride. Knowing that both Kristen and I make choices with God in our hearts solidifies our commitment to God and to one another.

But as for me and my household, we will choose to serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15)
