3 Months Old

Olivia you are 3 months old! You make your mommy and daddy so proud and happy. You are really starting to get your own little personality now. I love it! You don’t have your next doctor’s appointment until next month so I’m guessing you’re around 11-12 pounds now.

You started sleeping in your own room and have been doing excellent. I still get up two or three times a night just to make sure you’re ok. It seems like you’re so far away from us but you love it. I think you really are sleeping much better in your own room. We normally lay you down around 8pm and you’ll get up around 7:30am. We are so blessed!

You’re finally wearing 3 months clothes, for awhile they were swallowing you. You wear a size 2 diaper and still eating around 5 ounces 5 times a day. We love that you are such a happy baby, the only time you are really fussy is when you’re tired or hungry. Your tummy problems have gotten so much better with the probiotic drops, we can really tell a difference when we don’t give them to you.

Grammy is watching you 3 days a week while mommy goes to work. You’ve been so good for her. I can’t get home fast enough after work to see your precious face.

Tummy time has gotten so much better. You don’t scream anymore when we lay you down. We’ve realized you like to have something underneath your chest instead of lying directly on the floor. When we prop you up you love watching Buddy and Moo walk by. You’re still not sure what these crazy creatures are but you love watching them. You have also gotten so much better about holding onto things, you’re not really grabbing out to reach for things but if we put a toy in your hand you will hold on to it forever. We can’t wait for you to start reaching out for toys and us.

You have really starting to communicate with us more and more. After a bottle you will just sit and talk and talk to us. You can get pretty loud and we just laugh and laugh. Moo gets really scared when you get started, he will run to the farthest room possible to get away.

Bath time is still your favorite time. We are in a pretty good ritual every night. We give you you’re prevacid, bath then bottle. We rock and sing in your room until you start getting tired and we lay you down to sleep.

We’ve started reading to you and you love looking at the pages. There is a new series of books out called “Olivia”. It’s about a little girl pig. We have received several of these books and they are so adorable.

Your second cousin Robert came and visited you in the hopsital when you were born and brought you an adorable pink penguin. We introduced the two of you this past weekend and it didn't go so well.

Olivia, you are the best thing that has ever happened to your daddy and I. We can’t even imagine how we lived life without you. Your smile is contagious and it makes my day complete. I love you more than you will ever imagine. We know God has big things in store for your life.

I'll also leave you with something comical. Olivia is good about letting us take pictures of her but will definitely let us know when she's had enough, this day she really let us know.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:8-10)

I read this earlier this morning and it really hit home. Pastor John has been speaking about Grace for the past month and these verses summed it up for me. God's Grace is sufficient for me, and His power is glorified through my weaknesses and in my times of hardship and trials.

The difficult part about this is that we don't think this way in our day to day lives. We always feel that if we are weak or going through trials, that "we" will figure out a way out of them. It never works out that way. We must seek wisdom from God at our weakest moments and allow His Grace to work in us and bring forth the salvation that we need.

Father, forgive me of my sins and have mercy on me when I feel like I am able to do things on my own. Humble me by teaching me that your Grace is more than enough for me to get through each day. Allow me to be receptive to your truth each day and feed my soul so that I can continue to grow in my faith.

Tough Week

Wow, what a week this has been. Monday was my first day back to work from maternity leave and it was a lot harder than I ever thought possible. For the past 12 weeks I have spent every waking minute with my precious girl and leaving her just about killed me. We are so blessed that her Grammy is watching her 3 days a week which made leaving a little easier. I literally cried the entire way to work which was a long 30 minute drive. I have no doubts at all with her Grammy watching her, it was really just me thinking that she didn’t need me anymore. Crazy I know! I had a great day at work and only called home a few times to check on her. It was so good to see everyone and get back to some sort of normalcy again. If there is such a thing. Ha! Being a mother is the most fulfilling thing I've ever experienced. I wouldn’t trade all the feedings, dirty diapers and lack of sleep for anything in the world. When I got in from work Olivia acted like I had never left which made me even more sad and then came on more tears. Grammy did great but looked a little tired. All in all Monday was a great day with a lot of kleenex.

Olivia is still growing like a weed. We had to take her in to the doctor last Friday, it sounded like she was getting a cold. She weighed in at 11 pounds 10 ounces, getting so big.

Hanging out with Mommy and Daddy before leaving for church.
Loving bath time.

Modeling in new outfits.

Loving her wubbanub pacifier. A wubbanub pacifier has a stuffed animal stuck to the end of it where it's weighted down just enough so it doesn’t fall out of her mouth at night when she moves. It's a must for a great night sleep for all 3 of us.

Getting ready for bedtime.
